I thought is was important to get some perspective from a manufacturer - and SanDisk stepped up to the plate to talk about a subject they would rather not i.e. product failure. I thought Gerrys insight was very valuable. Just for the record Lexars PR were called but did not respond. If theyd like to get in touch Id love to add their input.</description>

A really scary but very useful article, although it did turn into an ad for SanDisk.
One thing that could be added as best practice to minimise the risk of failure is to have  a good quality water and dust proof wallet to store your used and unused cards in the field
This should go without saying but when I have been hired to shoot film and working along side other photographers I have seen them pull cards out of the top pocket of their jacket! 
Sometimes not even in the plastic case they came in!
